Nina Kunzendorf celebrates “Tatort” reunion in Dresden. She will be seen alongside investigators Cornelia Gröschel and Martin Brambach.

Long-time “Tatort” fans can look forward to the return of a familiar face. As the MDR announced in a press release, filming began at the beginning of April on a new Dresden “crime scene” with the working title “Sister’s Love”. In addition to the investigator duo Cornelia Gröschel (36) as Leonie Winkler and Martin Brambach (56) as Peter Michael Schnabel, the former “Tatort” detective will play another role Nina Kunzendorf (52) can be seen.

From 2011, Kunzendorf and Joachim Król (66) succeeded Andrea Sawatzki (61) and Jörg Schüttauf (62) as the Frankfurt investigator duo at Hessischer Rundfunk. She gave up this role in 2012 at her own request after five “Tatort” episodes. She then had another guest appearance in 2013 as an inspector in a “Tatort” episode on NDR called “Mord auf Langeoog”. Kunzendorf has already received several awards for her acting achievements – including the Golden Camera, the Grimme Prize and the German Film Prize.

This is what continues with investigator Karin Gorniak

The MDR also announced what was going on with the Dresden investigative team in terms of numbers. Regarding the role of actress Karin Hanczewski (42), the press release states: “Leonie Winkler and Peter Michael Schnabel are investigating the ‘Sister Love’ crime scene as a pair – the place of their former colleague Karin Gorniak remains vacant until further notice.”

Hanczewski announced in May 2023 that he would turn his back on the “crime scene” after many years “at his own request”. “As Karin Gorniak, I went through all the ups and downs of television police investigations for nine years and in a total of 18 episodes,” she said in a statement. She really enjoyed being part of the Dresden team and experienced a lot of sympathy. The decision to leave was not easy for her, but it was time to move on and tell new characters. As the MDR further announced at the time, the last case from Dresden with her role, “Tatort: Heart of Darkness”, will be shown at the beginning of 2025.

The “Tatort” with the current working title “Sister’s Love” will probably be the first in which Hanczewski will no longer be seen. According to MDR, filming for this will continue until the beginning of May in Dresden, Leipzig and the surrounding area. The broadcast date is scheduled for early 2026.

That’s what “Sisterly Love” from Dresden is about

The broadcaster announced the content in advance: In the middle of the night, 16-year-old Amanda (Emilie Neumeister, 25) is picked up in Dresden Neustadt with a blood-smeared scalpel. At the station she reports about being followed by her father (Maik Solbach, 52). This is said to have kept her and her sister Jana prisoner in a cellar their entire lives. She urgently asks the inspectors for help. While Schnabel has doubts, Winkler believes the young woman and wants to investigate the matter further. But the search for the cellar turns out to be more difficult than expected…

It is not yet known what role Nina Kunzendorf will play in her “Tatort” reunion. Yassin Trabelsi as forensic scientist Philipp Laupheimer, Ron Helbig as forensic pathologist Jonathan Himpe and Timur Isik as public prosecutor Jakob Klasen are also back. Other roles to be seen include Abak Safaei-Rad, Ella Gaiser, Ursula Schucht and Gloria Odosi.
