Forgotten by his father in his car, a seven-month-old baby dies due to extreme heat

A tragedy occurred this Wednesday afternoon in Carpentras (Vaucluse), where a seven-month-old infant was found dead in a vehicle. This tragic incident occurred around 4:45 p.m. Despite the rapid intervention of the emergency services, they could only note the death of the child.

According to information from Provence, the father of the child had parked his vehicle around 9 a.m. in the parking lot of his workplace, located rue Daladier in the Prato commercial activity zone, south of Carpentras. Unfortunately, he forgot his son inside the car on his way to work.

Up to 47 degrees in the vehicle

Late in the afternoon, the child’s mother went to the daycare to pick up her son, but discovered that he was not there. She immediately contacted her partner, but it was already too late. That day, the outside temperature reached 22 degrees, and the vehicle’s interior heated up to 47 degrees. The emergency services, including firefighters and a doctor from SMUR (Mobile Emergency and Resuscitation Service), could only note the death of the baby.

A similar incident took place recently in eastern France. On May 28, a father planned to take his son to daycare before going to work in Sausheim (Haut-Rhin). However, he failed to drop the child off and left him in the back seat of the car, parked in the company’s parking lot.
