Two high pressure areas become friends

The weather this weekend will be great. Nature is blooming. But the German Weather Service also sees two dangers.

Two highs named “Thomas” and “Uwe” allow Germany to revel in the most wonderful weather. The two High pressure areas are driving temperatures up to 25 degrees, as the German Weather Service predicted on Friday for the weekend.

“Thomas” has made himself comfortable over the North Sea and is tapping into warm air from the southeastern Mediterranean and the Black Sea region, as meteorologist Lars Kirchhübel explained. “In the north, “Thomas” has also joined forces with high “Uwe” over Norway, and a high is also circling over the western Mediterranean.” Accordingly, it is nice and warm and sunny in large parts of Europe. Showers and thunderstorms can only occur here and there.

Don’t forget sun protection

But be careful: “UV radiation also has a significant effect on the body along with the sun,” warns the DWD. Sun protection is popular. A high UV index with corresponding health risks is expected up to and including Sunday, especially in the west and south and parts of the middle.

The signs also point to early summer in nature. “The full spring with the apple blossom has been in full swing in Germany since around the second decade of April,” explained Kirchhübel. The first elderflowers were discovered at the beginning of April and it will soon be in full bloom.

“A lot of sun and dry conditions quickly bring the topic of forest fires back onto the agenda, despite the previous months being quite humid,” the meteorologist points out. The particular focus is on the north and east, where – apart from initial local showers – the dry mainland air will last longer.
