For the wishes, the town hall called on Riad Sattouf and… Esther

A teenager on a balcony of a Haussmann-style building overlooking the Eiffel Tower, who launches a loud “Happy New Year” to all Parisians, against a background of pink and blue sky. Here is the new greetings card from Paris town hall, which called on the famous designer Riad Sattouf.

The artist depicted the main character of the Esther’s notebooks, a little girl whose story he tells over 8 volumes from the age of 9 to the age of 17. “I have often told of Esther’s links with Brittany. But she is also and above all a Parisian who lives in Paris and who loves Paris! This image is an opportunity to shout it loud and clear,” comments Riad Sattouf in a message sent to 20 minutes.

A map distributed throughout the city

“The horizon is clear, the sky identical to the time at which the Mayor and Riad Sattouf exchanged, the strangeness of the pink present. We don’t know what to think but we want to believe in hope,” says the city.

This greeting card will be displayed on more than 4,000 faces of street information panels in the capital, as well as on kiosks from December 27 to January 24. With the words “Anne Hidalgo and the elected officials of Paris wish you a happy new year 2024”. It is true that in recent years we almost no longer wish a “Happy New Year”, the beautiful having subtly replaced the good, but in this case, here, in front of this horizon of pink and blue, it is perfectly justified.

The Ile-de-France region praises the Olympics in comics

For its part, the Ile-de-France Regional Council chose a greeting card focused on the Olympic Games, designed by Yann Wehrling, vice-president of the Ile-de-France Region but also an illustrator. No “good” or “beautiful” here but “warmest” wishes and an athlete brandishing an Olympic flame, the smoke of which traces the figures for the year 2024.

And inside the map, a small comic strip traces the estimated gains for the Ile-de-France Region with the Olympic Games. “In 2009, thanks to the Olympic and Paralympic Games, the Ile-de-France region was transformed, for athletes of course, with the creation of some 200 new facilities (…). For Ile-de-France residents, sporty or less sporty, for the Jop we have extended several metro lines, renewed trains and buses, improved the use of bicycles. » Not sure that the opponents of the Jops are of the same opinion.
