For the feria weekend, the gendarmes withdrew 48 driving licenses

The gendarmes may communicate about the rain of fines which falls on Nîmes (Gard) at each feria, the results of their operations are always as fruitful. This weekend, on the occasion of the Feria des Vendanges, the military checked more than 2,800 motorists, after the event, in the four corners of the city.

Two nights of checks were enough for the gendarmes to identify 96 cases of driving under the influence of alcohol and 9 under the influence of drugs. In total, they revoked 48 driving licenses. “The result to be remembered is that this action made it possible to avoid any accident, and that is the essential thing,” note the Gard gendarmes, on their Facebook page.

The toll of the 2023 Vendanges feria is, however, less heavy than that of the 2022 edition. Last year, on the weekend of the event, the gendarmes checked 3,300 vehicles, and counted 165 drivers under the influence alcohol and 11 under the influence of narcotics. In total, the military had withdrawn 80 driving licenses.
