For the big comeback of restaurants, a platform facilitates the hiring of cooks

  • To promote rapid recruitment in the catering industry, two Toulouse residents have launched Jobs & Chefs, the first digital platform to hire kitchen professionals.
  • It validates the experiences of candidates and certifies their diplomas.
  • Open on March 23, Jobs & Chefs, which operates throughout France, already has nearly 110 registered restaurateurs recruiters.

On May 19, restaurateurs who have terraces will be able to reopen their establishments after more than seven months of closure, linked to the health crisis. But to get back to the kitchen in the best possible conditions, restaurateurs know they will have to hire, which is not going to be easy after all this time.

To promote rapid recruitment in this sector, two Toulouse residents have launched Jobs & Chefs, the first digital platform for the hiring of kitchen professionals. Operational since March 23, it facilitates contact between restaurateurs and kitchen staff.

Unmotivated or occupied elsewhere

“With all the confinements, kitchen staff have been away from employment for almost a year and a half, some work in other sectors, others have lost their motivation,” explains Clément Gallais, founder of Jobs & Chefs with his sister Hélène and cook notably trained with Michel Sarran. The idea is to bring restaurateurs and cooks together digitally for rapid professional integration ”.

The platform, whose ambassador is Toulouse Michelin-starred chef Pierre Lambinon, works by validating the experiences of candidates with their previous employers and certifying their diplomas. “The recommendations are based on the experience, the experience of restaurateurs,” says Clément Gallais. We want Job & Chefs to also be a lasting tool following the cook, since his training and then throughout his career ”.

Nearly 110 restaurateurs registered

Because beyond wanting to simplify hiring, the platform aims to create an ecosystem bringing together recruiting restaurants, hotel schools, a breeding ground for the entire profession. The platform was born in the Pink City but the offers concern the whole of France. Nearly 110 restaurateurs have already registered.

In solidarity with the restaurateurs who are eagerly preparing their resumption of activity, the platform is free for them until June 15, but it will then be chargeable. The two founders are already considering other functions on the platform such as the electronic signature of contracts and advice on the best kitchen equipment. An application must also see the light of day imminently.
