For Sarah Michelle Geller’s 45th birthday, some actors from the film “Ice Cold Angels” met.
The film “Eiskalte Engel” became a worldwide success in 1999 and is still considered a cult film today. Some of the stars of the film celebrated a big reunion. The occasion was the 45th birthday of leading actress Sarah Michelle Gellar. She captured the special encounter in photos and shared this with her fans on Instagram.
For a series of pictures, the actress wrote: “Art and surprises on my birthday. What a special day.” Gellar, who once played the wily rich Kathryn in “Ice Cold Angels”, poses in the photos together with her then film competitor Selma Blair (49) and actor Ryan Phillippe (47), who mimed Gellar’s stepbrother in the film.
Iconic film scenes as paintings
The photos were taken at the Jeffrey Deitch Gallery in Los Angeles. Paintings depicting scenes from the film are currently on display there. In two photos, the actors pose in front of a screen showing the legendary kissing scene between Gellar and Blair. In another photo, the three cast members look at a painting of Ryan Phillippe’s backside, which he presented nude in the film.
The then producer Neal H. Moritz (62) and director Roger Kumble (55) were also part of the reunion, as can be seen in other photos. Only Reese Witherspoon (46), who also played one of the main roles in “Cruel Intentions”, was apparently not part of the special meeting.
That’s what “Ice Cold Angels” is about
“Cruel Intentions” is about rich step-siblings Kathryn Merteuil (Gellar) and Sebastian Valmont (Phillippe) who make a bet: if womanizer Sebastian manages to seduce a virgin Annette (Witherspoon), he’ll get to spend a night of love with Kathryn. Meanwhile, she longs for revenge on her ex-boyfriend, who has found a new love with Cecile Caldwell (Blair).
