For more diversity: Do we have to rewrite our children’s books and fairy tales?

In this live episode of the star-DISKUTHEK, which is broadcast as part of the “Week for Diversity”, we discuss diversity in children’s books and fairy tales – and the question of whether children’s book classics such as “Pippi Longstocking” should be rewritten.

There has long been an emotional debate about non-discriminatory language and diversity in children’s books and fairy tales. Classics like “The Little Witch”, “Pippi Longstocking” or Grimm’s Fairy Tales have been criticized. In Hungary, Prime Minister Viktor Orban has banned the fairy tale book “Fairytale Land for All” with homosexual princes and a trans deer. A Hungarian politician even went so far as to publicly shred the book.
