Martine Aubry is “extremely delighted”. The reason for this joy expressed on Saturday? The union of the left and environmentalists behind Karima Delli for the regional elections in Hauts-de-France. The mayor of Lille even calls to “stop looking at the navel” in order to extend this rally at the national level.
“It’s nice when the left is united,” she said during the May Day parade in Lille, where she was displayed in particular alongside Karima Delli, EELV mayor of Grenoble Éric Piolle, candidate for the ecological primary for the 2022 presidential election or even Benoît Hamon, former socialist candidate for the 2017 presidential election. Martine Aubry took the opportunity to plead for “economic development that is not the same as before and ecological development (…), With social justice at the heart of it all ”.
A “message to egos”
PS, PRG, Insoumis, communists, Generation. s, Génération écologie and Place publique have united in Hauts-de-France behind Green MEP Karima Delli, facing outgoing President Xavier Bertrand. The objective is to ensure the return of a left disappeared from the region under pressure from the extreme right.
Asked about the question of a union of the left at the national level, the former first secretary of the Socialist Party wished to send a “message to egos”. According to her, “the national union will be possible the day when these gentlemen will not look at each other’s navel and will look at the people who need them”.
