for François Hollande, the New Popular Ecological and Social Union “will not allow victory”

François Hollande announces that he remains with the Socialist Party and refuses to say whether he will be a candidate for the legislative elections

Unlike his former Prime Minister Bernard Cazeneuve, François Hollande will not leave the Socialist Party despite the agreement with La France insoumise. “I have been a socialist since I was 20, I led the PS for 10 years, my life is linked to socialismhe explained this Monday morning on France inter. Socialist I am, socialist I will be until the end of my existence. »

While according to him, “the socialist party is worn out, tired, and above all divided”, the former president of the Republic wishes “to rebuild this great socialist force which we absolutely need”, after the legislative elections. “There will have to be a great movement which is constituted from those who want it, (who are still in the) Socialist Party and (those who are) outside, because the greatest number of socialists today ‘today is outside’, he lamented. But Mr. Hollande rejects the appeal launched in the presidential majority for the Social Democrats. “It cannot be a source of hope”he explained.

Regarding a possible candidacy for the legislative elections, Mr. Hollande once again refused to answer, referring to the May 20 deadline for submitting candidacies. But, while La France insoumise invested one of its candidates in its former constituency of Corrèze within the framework of the New Popular Ecological and Social Union, the former first secretary of the PS castigated “a form of inelegance, of absence of friendship in the PS which is harmful”.

And while the programmatic agreement of the Nupes so much to reconsider some of the reforms put in place under his five-year term, such as the El Khomri laws, Mr. Hollande tried to defend his record on Monday on France inter:

“If I hadn’t been elected in 2012, there wouldn’t be retirement at 60 for those with long careers, there wouldn’t have been agreements on hardship, there wouldn’t be had third-party payment, the training account, the youth guarantee, COP21, marriage for all. For that alone, I am proud to have won the 2012 elections.”
