First they were at a reception with President Duda, then the police action followed. Two members of the former ruling party PiS have been arrested.

The police in Poland have legally convicted two members of the replaced national-conservative ruling party PiS arrested, who had previously sought protection in the presidential palace.

The police in Warsaw announced this on the X platform (formerly Twitter). According to Polish media reports, the two were caught in the presidential palace.

President Andrzej Duda, who comes from the ranks of the PiS, received former Interior Minister Mariusz Kaminski and his State Secretary Maciej Wasik in the presidential palace in the morning while the police were supposed to take them to prison. Both politicians were sentenced to two years in prison for abuse of office by a Warsaw district court in December after an appeal and were due to begin their sentences.
