Bayern Munich defender Benjamin Pavard has reportedly agreed verbally with Manchester United about a move this summer. As the “Daily Mirror” wrote on Monday without citing a source, the traditional English club has informed FC Bayern of its intention to sign the Frenchman. Pavard is said to be tipped to replace former captain Harry Maguire, 30, who has been linked with West Ham United.

According to the “Daily Mail”, however, Manchester was rebuffed with a first offer for Pavard at Bayern. There is talk of a fee of 30 million euros for the national soccer player and world champion of 2018, who can be used both inside and outside in defence. Pavard’s contract in Munich expires in the summer of 2024. He switched from VfB Stuttgart to the Isar in 2019 for around 35 million euros. Pavard is mainly used as a right-back in Munich, but he prefers to see himself in central defence.

BVB interested in ex-Mainzer

According to media reports, former Mainz player Jean-Philippe Mateta was targeted by Borussia Dortmund when looking for a beefy storm alternative. According to information from the “Bild” newspaper, the 26-year-old could be had from the English first division club Crystal Palace for eight million euros. The Frenchman scored 27 goals in 71 competitive games for FSV Mainz 05 between the summer of 2018 and January 2022 before moving to the London club for eleven million euros.

BVB trainer Edin Terzic confirmed last week that the runners-up wanted to “keep their eyes and ears open” with regard to another offensive force. “And if you look at our squad on offense, we don’t have many players over 1.80 meters tall.”

According to information from Sport1, BVB is also interested in national player Armel Bella Kotchap. The central defender, who was part of the German World Cup squad last year, switched from neighbors VfL Bochum to FC Southampton last summer, but was relegated from the Premier League with the club.

First Bundesliga professional moves to Saudi Arabia

Alexander Hack from Mainz 05 is apparently moving to Saudi Arabia. The 29-year-old defender signs according to “Kicker” and “Bild” a two-year deal with second division club Al-Qadisiya, coached by Liverpool legend Robbie Fowler. His contract in Mainz would have run for another year. The transfer fee is said to be 1.5 million euros.

Hack, who played for Mainz for nine years and made 133 Bundesliga appearances for the club, had already said goodbye to the team and the fans when FSV beat Elversberg 1-0 in the cup. In Mainz he no longer saw any prospects. He needs “more operating times”.

European champion Bonucci to Union Berlin?

According to media reports, 1. FC Union Berlin is interested in long-time Italian international Leonardo Bonucci. Several Italian journalists reported on Sunday evening talks between the German Champions League participant, Bonucci’s club Juventus Turin and the player.

At Juve, the 36-year-old no longer plays a role in coach Massimiliano Allegri’s plans and was recently excluded from the squad. The 2021 European champion still has a valid contract with Juventus until next summer and is reportedly open to a move to Berlin.

Caideco chooses Chelsea

According to media reports, the English record move from Moisés Caicedo to Chelsea is nearing completion. The London club paid 115 million pounds (around 133 million euros) plus bonus payments to Brighton and Hove Albion, as reported by the portal “The Athletic” and transfer expert Fabrizio Romano on Sunday evening. Liverpool FC was also very interested in Caicedo and seemed to have snatched the professional away from the Blues in the meantime. Coach Jürgen Klopp has already spoken of an agreement between the clubs.

But then, according to the media, the Ecuadorian international reportedly told Liverpool that he did not want to move to Anfield. He had already reached an agreement with Chelsea at the end of May and feels bound by this agreement. Even before Liverpool’s offer, Chelsea was considered the most promising candidate for Caicedo’s commitment.
