Real Madrid just barely defended their lead in the Primera División. The Royals did not get beyond a 1-1 (0-0) against FC Girona on Sunday. Vinicius Júnior (70th) had put the weak Madrilenians in the lead. Cristhian Stuani (80th) managed to equalize for the guests with a controversial hand penalty. To make matters worse, Real’s former national player Toni Kroos had to leave the field in injury time because of repeated foul play with yellow-red. In more than 600 games at club level as a professional, that had never happened to him. Real is just one point ahead of FC Barcelona, who previously won 1-0 at FC Valencia.
