Bundesliga defeat, corona debate, quarantine and snowstorms – all of this cannot do anything to FC Bayern when they win the Champions League at Dynamo Kiev, even if things got tight again in the end.
On Tuesday (25.11.21) the Munich team won a 2: 1 (2: 0) victory in Kiev in wintry conditions around freezing point including snowfall. Robert Lewandowski with an overhead kick (14th minute) and Kingsley Coman (42nd) secured the fifth victory in the fifth group game and finally first place in Group E. Denys Gamash only managed the connection goal for Kiev (70th).
The youngest 1: 2 in the Bundesliga at FC Augsburg and the Fuss about unvaccinated players and quarantine orders for, among others, Joshua Kimmich and Serge Gnabry was not to be seen in the Munich Olympic Stadium in Kiev.
Robert Lewandowski hits spectacularly
Even with a rump team with only four field players on the bench, the guests started more actively, picked up a lot of balls in the pressing and played more fluidly forward. The Munich team set the first exclamation mark early on. After half an hour, however, the Munich game became more sloppy and Dynamo came up with chances. Manuel Neuer had to clarify twice in dire straits (35th). In addition, FCB was lucky that the Turkish referee Halil Meler and the video crew did not decide on a penalty when Lucas Hernandez boarded Vitaliy Buyalskyi (39).
But the German record champions struck again a little later. Thomas Müller cleverly let a Tolisso pass through his legs at the edge of the penalty area. Behind them Coman ran in and scored the 2-0 with a shot from the half-right.
Kiev comes up in half time two
With the beginning of the second half, the Ukrainians, who were still winless in the Champions League, increased their efforts. Mykola Shaparenko failed twice from a promising position against Neuer (47th). The guests then got the game under control again with long passes.
But at the latest, when the substitute Gamash after a nice play alone in front of Neuer made it 1: 2, it got tricky again (70th). Kiev played more courageously now. Neuer held the lead with another strong save against Sergey Sydorchuk (75th). A little later Viktor Tsygankov aimed just wide (79th). Shortly before the end, Leon Goretzka saved a long ball with a strong tackle against the almost lost Tsygankov (89th). In the end, the guests brought the narrow lead to the finish.
For FC Bayern it will continue on Saturday evening (6.30 p.m.) in the Bundesliga with the home game against Arminia Bielefeld. In the Champions League against FC Barcelona on December 8th, the Munich team wrapped up their flawless group record with another success.
