The song “Lemon Tree” is being analyzed in school classes in Baden-Württemberg. The singer from “Fools Garden” says that this is also the case in English schools.
The singer of the band Fools Garden, Peter Freudenthaler, claims to have put the 1996 super hit “Lemon Tree” on paper in just 20 minutes. Little time for a classic that even made it into the curriculum of Baden-Württemberg school classes.
“Lemon Tree” is analyzed in music lessons in schools, and it was the same in my daughter’s lessons, “Freudenthaler told the German Press Agency. Above all, he is surprised that this is also the case in English schools. “With such a simple text, that’s almost a joke,” said the 58-year-old in Pforzheim.
Fools Garden filled halls and stadiums
25 years ago Freudenthaler had huge success with Fools Garden and the carefree Schunkelsong “Lemon Tree”. After the rocket launch of the small band, which hardly anyone outside of Pforzheim knew, Fools Garden filled halls and stadiums between Germany, Belarus and Malaysia.
On their new, altogether eleventh album with the title “Captain … Coast Is Clear” the band is much more electronic than before. It was fun, but it was also a matter of getting used to for the Pforzheimer, admits guitarist Volker Hinkel: “At our age it is quite sporty to be on stage with only two laptops and pads. But anyone who has been playing the electric guitar for 40 years also wants to use a different instrument. “
