Vaccination
Anyone traveling to a region where typhoid fever is widespread can get vaccinated as a precaution. There are several vaccines available, including combination vaccines with hepatitis A, which doctors can provide information about if you are planning a trip. The Ministry of Health recommends vaccination for trips to developing countries and countries with a significantly increased risk of typhoid fever and at the same time a dangerous travel style (e.g. backpacking).
The vaccination should be completed at least a week before travel.

hygiene
It is also recommended to pay attention to good food hygiene, according to the motto: “Cook it, boil it, peel it or forget it”in German: “Koch it, fry it, peel it or forget it.” Personal hygiene, such as washing your hands after using the toilet, can also do a lot to contain the bacteria.
