Foo Fighters drummer Taylor Hawkins dies hours before going on stage

The Foo Fighters drummer was found unresponsive at the Casa Medina Hotel in Bogota, just hours before taking the stage for a concert at the Estéreo Picnic Festival. “The Foo Fighters family is devastated by the tragic and untimely passing of our dear Taylor Hawkins.announced the rock band in a statement posted on Twitter. His musical spirit and contagious laughter will live with us all forever. Our thoughts are with his wife, children and family, and we ask that their privacy be treated with the utmost respect at this incredibly difficult time.” For the moment, the causes of death of Taylor Hawkins have not yet been revealed.

Foo Fighters drummer’s body “is there and at the moment we have no other information”, a source from the prosecutor’s office in Bogota told AFP. At the announcement of his death, many personalities paid tribute to Taylor Hawkins. The band Coldplay, which performs in Mexico, dedicated the song Everglow at Taylor Hawkins while Miley Cyrus announced that the next concert of her tour was dedicated to the musician. “You’d come watch me play in neighborhood bars and say, ‘kid, you’re a star’. And I thought you were crazy but you gave me so much hope and determination”, the Blink-182 drummer wrote. Rage Against the Machine’s Tom Morello praised “unstoppable rock spirit and power” of Taylor Hawkins and Ozzy Osbourne said he was “really a great person and an amazing musician”.

Taylor Hawkins: ‘I got out of control for a while’

Taylor Hawkins began his career as a drummer for Alanis Morissette before joining Foo Fighters following the departure of his predecessor. “I rushed to get Dave’s number (Grohl, ex-drummer of Nirvaga who founded the band, editor’s note) and I called him”, he confided. He participated in eight albums of the group and went through a complicated period. In 2001, Taylor Hawkins survived a heroin overdose that left him in a coma for two weeks. “I got out of control for a whileconfided the drummer. I partied a lot. I wasn’t a junkie per se, but I was partying. a bit too much.” Taylor Hawkins leaves to mourn his band, their many fans but also his wife, Alison, and their three children.
