Now it’s official: Julian Nagelsmann is the new national team coach. DFB President Bernd Neuendorf and sports director Rudi Völler introduced the 36-year-old at a press conference. Track the PK in star-Live blog
The German Football Association acted quickly: almost two weeks after the dismissal of Hansi Flick, the DFB found a new national coach. As was already unofficially known, 36-year-old Julian Nagelsmann will take over the German men’s national team and prepare them for the 2014 European Championship at home. Nagelsmann will be officially introduced at the press conference and will answer questions from journalists alongside DFB President Bernd Neuendorf and sports director Rudi Völler.

Now it’s Rudi Völler’s turn to explain his perspective on things. The fact that Nagelsmann was available is an “absolute stroke of luck” for Völler. Like Neuendorf, Völler praises Nagelsmann above all else.
