Folk festival “like before Corona” – Bad Tölz-Wolfratshausen

Sunshine and beaming faces instead of storm clouds and thunderstorms: In Geretsried, the folk festival called “Forest Summer” is being held again this year – and “largely as the original program and size like before Corona”. Festwirt Christian Fahrenschon explained this on Friday at a press conference. After disagreements between the host family and the city had led to the early end of the hype last year – the reason was the Corona requirements – there were recently clarifying discussions: “The storm cleared the forest,” said Fahrenschon. And: “I’m crazy that we found each other again.”

Mayor Michael Müller (CSU) also emphasized: “We want to celebrate together again in Geretsried, and it’s great what’s on offer with the forest summer.” Culture consultant Hans Ketelhut (CSU) explained: “Let’s have a good time and toast to old values.”

The Geretsrieder Forest Summer will be held from July 29th to August 7th on the fairground on Jahnstraße, in its “classic, pre-corona form”, as Fahrenschon said. This includes a marquee, a beer garden, rides and booths. The program begins on Friday, July 29, with a stand concert at City Hall, a parade to the tent, and tapping. A mass of beer should cost 10.30 euros. The Geretsrieder Rummel traditionally focuses on its suitability for families. An Italian and an old Bavarian evening are also on the program as well as numerous brass music performances and rock and party music evenings, for example with the newcomers merged

Even if everyone involved is happy, the pandemic still casts a few shadows on the Geretsried forest summer. The senior afternoon, announced for Monday, August 1st, could still be divided into several dates to protect the risk group. The tent, on the other hand, will have 300 to 500 fewer places, “because there simply isn’t enough staff,” said Fahrenschon. Employees are desperately needed in the gastro and also in the marquee companies, “also without training, because it’s better to bring only four liters of beer to the table than none at all,” he said.
