Actually, it should be a relaxed trip with the family. But in the Florida Keys island chain, the mayor of the US state of Florida found a black plastic package floating in the water. It turns out: The 62-year-old and her family found more than 30 kilograms of cocaine.
The mayor of the city of Tampa in the US state of Florida made an unusual catch while fishing: on a vacation trip with her family in the Florida Keys island chain, Jane Castor came across more than 30 kilograms of cocaine with a black market value of 1.1 million dollars (approx million euros).
The drugs were in a black plastic packet floating in the water. “My younger brother saw debris in the water,” Castor, who traveled to the Keys to celebrate one of her sons’ birthdays, told Fox 13. The family approached hoping the shadow of the supposed debris might attract fish . “As we got closer, I said, ‘Oh, that must be a packet of cocaine,'” the 62-year-old said. The mayor is knowledgeable on the subject: She worked for the Tampa Police Department for more than 30 years and was the police chief for six years.
The family was able to heave the heavy package on board and informed the police. “My family was a little worried if there was a tracking device or something in place,” Castor said on Fox 13. “I said, ‘If that’s the case, the batteries are already dead.'” Authorities later released a photo of the find: The large package contained 25 packets of cocaine decorated with butterflies.
