Florian König cannot stand in front of the camera for Formula 1 due to a corona infection. Now he reported from his quarantine.

RTL presenter Florian König (54) tested positive for the corona virus for the second time. He missed his commitment at the Formula 1 weekend in Imola. He will be represented at the Grand Prix of Emilia Romagna on April 24 by moderator Laura Papendick (33). At Instagram the moderator spoke up: “Unfortunately, I don’t have any good news. I’m Corona positive, for the second time and although fully vaccinated. However, almost no symptoms, I wouldn’t have noticed it.”

Florian König wants to moderate in Silverstone

A test detected the infection and now he is unfortunately in quarantine for seven days, the 54-year-old continues. “That means it won’t be for me with Imola, unfortunately.” Luckily, his colleague stepped in and he would then be back at the start at Silverstone. He will follow the transmission from Imola in front of the television at home. From 2 p.m. (start 3 p.m.) Papendick will lead through the RTL program on Sunday. The race from Silverstone, UK is scheduled for July 3rd. Last year, RTL secured the rights to four Formula 1 races of the season exclusively for free TV as part of a partnership with Sky.

Already last Sunday, König was unable to moderate the Sport1 show “Doppelpass”. A replacement could be found quickly: The long-standing “Doppelpass” moderator Rudi Brückner (66), who had already represented König for a few weeks, stepped in for the show. In the fall, König did not work in front of the camera for a few weeks “for health reasons”.
