Flood situation on the Danube is easing – Bavaria

As the flood intelligence service (HND) announced on Wednesday, water levels along the entire Danube would fall. Individual water levels in the section between Straubing and Vilshofen were still above reporting levels 1 to 2 on Wednesday morning. By Thursday afternoon, all Danube water levels should have fallen below reporting level 1, it was said.

On the upper Altmühl in Thann (Ansbach district), the water levels are expected to remain at reporting level 1 for a longer period of time, but according to the HND, the peak appears to have been reached. From the first of four reporting levels onwards, there may be small spills in places. At reporting level 2, agricultural and forestry areas may be flooded or there may be minor traffic disruptions on main roads and municipal roads.

The German Weather Service expects mostly isolated rain on Wednesday and Thursday. On Friday there will initially be widespread rainfall, which will then shift to the south of Bavaria. It could also snow at lower altitudes.

On Saturday there will be widespread snow, with sleet or rain at lower altitudes. However, according to a spokesman for the HND, the rainfall should not cause water levels to rise again.
