Flood disaster: a walk with Norbert Scheuer, five months later – culture

The people tidied up tirelessly, but the Eifel is still full of rubble and many streets are deserted. A walk five months after the flood disaster.

As a boy I wanted to be a track runner, to be employed by the railroad. The small but secure income would have been enough for me. So I had dreamed of walking down the rails, checking the tracks, switches and signal masts in peace and in the fresh air of nature, which I loved so much – for me the epitome of freedom, of a responsible but also dangerous activity.
