Fleury Michon closes its factory, a hundred employees on the floor

The ad had was made at the end of October to employees. Faced with significant volume losses, the agri-food company Fleury Michon had warned employees of its desire to sell its cooked meats factory in Plélan-le-Grand, about thirty minutes from Rennes (Ille-et-Vilaine). The management of the Vendée-based company then announced that it was looking for a buyer for its factory, in order to preserve a maximum of 101 permanent jobs. But no solid offer emerged, forcing the group to initiate a job protection plan (PSE). The announcement was made Monday to employees.

Eight companies had expressed an interest but none made an offer. “We will continue to look because our priority remains to save jobs,” said Antoine Belot, director of human resources, to our colleagues from West France. On-site activity will continue for at least three months while the ESP is implemented. Only a takeover offer could save employees from redundancy.

The company was created in 1990 and taken over in 2002 by the Fleury Michon group. It specializes in cooked charcuterie and processing into ham and roasts, but also in cured duck.
