Things are looking up: for many years, savers received minimal or no interest on their money at the bank. But now the European Central Bank (ECB) has raised interest rates. The result is that German savings banks and Volksbanks and Raiffeisenbanks are also increasing their interest rates. For fixed-term deposits, the classic form of investment, there are now interest rates of up to 1.25 percent again, as an analysis by the internet portal biallo.de shows. This is a small consolation for savers who want to invest their money absolutely safely. However, the interest rates are still far from compensating for the high inflation rate, which was 7.5 percent in Germany most recently.
