Five years stadium ban for author of “monkey cries” during Nancy-Red Star

After the “monkey cries” noted Wednesday evening in a stand at the Marcel Picot stadium, at the end of the National match between Nancy and Red Star (1-1), AS Nancy-Lorraine did not delay in identifying and punish one of the culprits. A spectator who made these racist cries was banned from the stadium this Friday for five years.

“We identified the author, he handed himself in to the police,” declared Nabil El Yaagoubi, deputy director general of ASNL. We are going to ban him from the stadium for five years thanks to the Larrivé law. » This gives clubs the possibility of refusing the sale of tickets to certain spectators who are not yet banned from stadiums, and which they can file electronically.

The Minister of Sports Amélie Oudéa-Castéra reacted

The spectator in question was identified thanks to the video surveillance cameras at the Marcel-Picot stadium. “We have only identified one person, we have the images. Only one individual was arrested. We called for witnesses, but we didn’t get any feedback telling us otherwise. The Red Star players also identified an individual who was making gestures,” continues Nabil El Yaagoubi. “Now, the procedure is no longer with us, it is with the courts. We filed a complaint at the police station,” concludes the Nancy deputy CEO.

The Nancy public prosecutor François Capin-Dulhoste indicated Thursday that an investigation was underway into these facts, entrusted to departmental security. The disciplinary committee of the French Football Federation (FFF) will also open a procedure on this file. “The author or authors of these despicable actions at Marcel Picot will be found, and will no longer have their place in a stadium,” also reacted the Minister of Sports Amélie Oudéa-Castéra on the social network X.
