Five tourist sites equipped with donation terminals to finance their renovation

We saw them land a few years ago in churches, serving as connected baskets for the 2.0 quest. Since then, donation terminals have gradually been installed in a few heritage sites throughout the territory.

After a test last year, the Brittany region is renewing the experience with the deployment of these terminals equipped with a contactless payment terminal in five emblematic sites in the region: the castles of Fougères and Dinan, the trawler The Hemerica in the port of Concarneau, the old lighthouse of Penmarc’h and the ecomuseum of the village of Saint-Dégan in Brech, famous for its thatched-roof houses. “Five sites benefiting from a strong tourist potential but for which the financing needs are important”, underlines the Brittany region.

Donations of one to ten euros

The objective of these terminals is to reach new donors and increase the volume of donations to finance the restoration of these historic monuments. After a short video presenting the site in question on the terminal, the visitor will be able to make a donation of one to ten euros. “A simple and secure device that even allows you to obtain a tax receipt”, specifies the community.

Among the sites selected, the Château de Fougères attracts 120,000 visitors each year, with peaks of 1,200 people on certain days. To consolidate it and ensure its longevity, a restoration program is underway for an amount of approximately three million euros.
