Five cities are awarded state garden shows – Bavaria

Five cities in Middle Franconia, Upper Bavaria and Swabia have each been awarded the contract to host the Bavarian State Garden Show in the years from 2028 to 2032. As the Ministry of the Environment in Munich announced on Wednesday, Penzberg (Weilheim-Schongau district) will start in 2028, followed by Günzburg (2029), Nuremberg (2030), Schrobenhausen (2031) and Langenzenn in the Fürth district in 2032. Nuremberg should then the 50th anniversary of the state garden shows will also be celebrated. “State horticultural shows provide answers to the challenges of climate change in urban areas: They bring green oases into the cities, promote local recreation and enable local experiences of nature. Urban climate protection is a central task of the present,” said Environment Minister Thorsten Faithr (Freie Wahler).

The first garden show took place in 1980 in cooperation with Baden-Württemberg in Ulm and Neu-Ulm. In the next few years, the events will initially take place in Freyung (2023), Kirchheim near Munich (2024), Furth im Wald (2025), Schweinfurt (2026) and Bad Windsheim (2027). These communes have already been established.
