With the Fitbit Charge 6, Google is launching the next version of its small fitness tracker. The slim bracelet comes with numerous options, a new button on the side and an improved heart rate monitor.

According to the manufacturer, the optical heart rate monitor on the bottom of the Fitbit Charge 6 works much more accurately than previous models. Google promises a 60 percent improvement in heart rate measurement, especially during strenuous training sessions. The fitness tracker is compatible with training devices that support Bluetooth Heart Rate Profile. Other health features include measuring blood oxygen levels and skin temperature.

The Fitbit Charge 6 also creates data about personal stress levels and the “Daily Readiness Score”. This is intended to provide information about when your body is particularly ready for strenuous training sessions or when it is better to take a break. Anyone who wears the tracker at night also receives a sleep analysis.

Unlike its predecessors, the Charge 6 now has a real push button on the left side as an alternative to the touchscreen. Pressing it always takes you back to the home screen or to your personal statistics.

One of the smart features of the Fitbit Charge 6 is wireless payment with Google Wallet. Paired with the smartphone, the fitness tracker also serves as a navigation aid with turn-by-turn directions from Google Maps and as a remote control for music playback with YouTube Music. The Fitbit Charge 6 should last for a week on one battery charge.

Google offers numerous bracelets for the fitness tracker, both elegant models made of fabric and leather as well as those for sporting use. The bracelets cost between 30 and 50 euros.
