Fisherman sentenced for leaking Sea Shepherd president’s Facebook address

You can’t put anything on social media. This Wednesday, a man was sentenced by the Lorient criminal court for having disclosed the postal address of the president of the Sea Shepherd association.

This fisherman had posted a message on Facebook containing the place of residence of Lamya Essemlali, in Finistère. Two days after this broadcast, sailors from Guilvinec broke into the home of the president of the NGO.

Judged in appearance on prior admission of guilt (CRPC), the fisherman was sentenced to a fine of 800 euros and to pay 1,300 euros in damages, reports West France. The daily specifies that the message remained online for a few hours, before its author withdrew it.

Two days later, fishermen had demonstrated in front of the house of the president of the NGO to express their disagreement with the accidental captures of dolphins. According to his lawyer, Lamya Essemlali had been the target of threats.
