Fischer publisher Vogel in an interview: “Don’t tolerate ideological hatred” – Culture

Since October 7th, cracks have emerged in the German cultural landscape that were previously well hidden under a liberal consensus. Since Hamas’ attack on Israel, they often seem almost impossible to overcome. The Frankfurt-based S. Fischer-Verlag was at the center of such collisions twice: First, the author Sharon Dodua Otoo waived the Peter Weiss Prize from the city of Bochum after the award was put on hold because of an old BDS signature. Then the Bosnian author Lana Bastašić broke with Fischer because she disagreed with the stance regarding Israel. Maybe the publisher Oliver Vogel knows a way out of the escalation spiral?
