First look at the PlayStation VR2 user experience

PlayStation VR2, the successor to the PlayStation VR headset that was released in October 2016, now has more insights detailing the user experience. The “Virtual Reality” headset offers a number of comfort features that make diving into virtual worlds even more pleasant.

culvert view

The pass-through view function allows players to view the real environment at any time by pressing the function button on the headset, for example to see the PS VR2 Sense controllers in the game area. In addition, the feature available via the map in the Control Center allows you to quickly switch between the environment and the view of the PS VR2 content and optionally make settings.

PS VR2 transfer function

While playing, PlayStation VR2 users can film themselves thanks to the headset’s broadcasting function, once an HD camera for PS5 is connected to the console.

Customized play area

Using the PS VR2 Sense controllers and the integrated cameras, the play area for the PS VR2 headset can be individually adapted to the circumstances of the environment. The system’s cameras can be used to scan the room, and the play area can also be expanded with the PS VR2 Sense controllers.

VR mode and cinema mode

With VR mode, VR game content can be played in a 360-degree view of a virtual environment in HDR, with a resolution of 4000 x 2040 and a frame rate of 90Hz / 120Hz. The headset’s theater mode displays the PS5 system and user interface and all non-VR mode content and media playback on a virtual cinema screen. There, gamers can expect HDR, a resolution of 1920 x 1080 with 24/60 Hz and a frame rate of 120 Hz.
