First issue of “Vogue”: Happy snobs – media

the Vogue celebrates its 130th birthday. On December 17, 1892, the first issue of the legendary fashion magazine was published in New York – in Look&Feelas they say today, of course still a long way from the high-gloss product that the Vogue should be later. At the time, it was a slim, black-and-white illustrated booklet with the aim of “establishing a dignified, authentic journal for society, fashion and the festive side of life”. With success – for decades the magazine title from New York with dozens of worldwide offshoots was known to be the absolute authority in matters of style. Things are different today: With the digital revolution, readers were lost, and influencers and bloggers cheekily dispute the old lady’s advertising revenue.
