First engagement, first mentor, last scare… Anne Hidalgo says

She is the first to have agreed to play the game. Smiling despite her 2% voting intentions in the polls, the Socialist Party candidate, Anne Hidalgo, recalled her first and last times (political of course), in front of the camera of 20 minutes.

The first time she really got involved, “it was at the CFDT,” she says. In 1982, when I became a labor inspector, I decided to join immediately”. Among her most striking memories, the mayor of Paris, when she talks about her first times, cannot fail to speak of one of her mentors, Lionel Jospin, whom she followed and supported for a long time. Inserted in the PS since 1994, it is a speech of the former Prime Minister, the same year, which convinces her. “I said to myself: ‘if I want to get involved, it’s with him'” she recalls.

Sufficiently “strong, solid and experienced”

Losing momentum in the polls for several months, Anne Hidalgo is still pursuing her goal. Candidate for the presidency of France, she explains that she is aware of the difficulties of such an exercise. And considers his decision to embark on the race for the Elysée, today and not in 2017 nor in five years, carefully considered: “I felt strong enough, solid and experienced enough to be able to do it”.
