Firm prison required against former PS deputy Henri Jibrayel

Thirty months in prison, including fifteen months and five years of ineligibility were requested by the general prosecutor of the Aix-en-Provence court of appeal against Henri Jibrayel, former socialist deputy of Marseille, reports Provence.

The one who sat in the National Assembly between 2007 and 2017 was prosecuted for acts of breach of trust and illegal taking of interests. Justice accuses Henri Jibrayel of having, in 2011 and 2012, financed by the General Council of Bouches-du-Rhône, of which he was then elected by the majority, sea trips for the elderly in his constituency by the through grants to associations.

He is also accused of having, in 2012 and 2013, gambled at the Aix-en-Provence casino with public funds, in this case his allowances representing office expenses.

Two cases for which the former deputy had been convicted at two first instance correctional hearings held in 2020 and 2021 and which were retried together on appeal. The court’s decision is expected on May 23.
