“Upon receiving a call for help, the drone automatically deploys to the drowning area. It is the first to go to the scene and provides rescuers, using its day and night cameras, with intelligent video feedback, via automatic victim detection, ”according to the press release written jointly with the manufacturer. , the French company Azur Drones.
300 people per year “in difficulty”
Once positioned above the drowning person, the drone releases the buoy and the victim can hold on while waiting for help to arrive. This system “saves considerable time on the average duration of our interventions”. This is an improvement in the chances of survival of the victims at stake, according to Commander Mathieu Giroir, initiator and coordinator of the project within the Studies and Prospective Office of the BSPP.
The BSPP claims to help an average of 300 people per year “in difficulty” in the Seine.
