Firefighters rescue horse stuck in septic tank

One wonders how it could have fallen into such a small hole given its size. This Sunday, the firefighters from the departmental fire and rescue service of Haute-Garonne were called to get out a horse, stuck in a septic tank in the town of Lagarde, south-east of Toulouse.

When they arrived, they found the equine in distress, the fall having taken place several hours earlier in this filled excavation in which he was barely holding on. To get him out of there, members of the animal risk team and a veterinarian were called in to help. They managed to fit the horse with straps to hold it down, then used a backhoe and the owner’s farm implement to dig and enlarge the cavity.

The animal was freed and taken care of by the veterinarian. He was able to see that he was in fairly good health, apart from a few superficial wounds and a dress that had changed color…
