Flames no longer ravage HEC. The major fire which broke out on Tuesday around 9 p.m. on the school campus in Jouy-en-Josas was extinguished shortly before 11 p.m. and did not cause any casualties, said the Yvelines prefecture.
Firefighters are still on the scene and the fire has not spread “to adjoining buildings,” added this source. There are nearly 60 people involved in the disaster, said the Yvelines firefighters.
A conference by Jacques Attali interrupted
Some 150 people were evacuated and the fire extended from 400 to 500 m2 in a building of 800 m2, said a source close to the matter. According to a police source, the fire started in an amphitheater.
Videos and photos posted on the social network X show a building ravaged by major flames and a thick plume of black smoke rising. According to HEC’s YouTube channel, economist Jacques Attali gave a conference at the famous business school this Tuesday evening. In the video of the conference, a student interrupts the debate to invite people to come out, indicating that a “major fire” has broken out in the Blondeau amphitheater on campus.
The business school founded in 1881 and based in Jouy-en-Josas since 1964, welcomes 4,500 students as well as 8,000 executives and business leaders in continuing education.
