Amazon has announced its largest and most powerful tablet to date. The Fire Max 11 comes with an 11-inch screen and should also be suitable for modern games thanks to the 8-core processor. There is also 4 GB of main memory, up to 128 GB of integrated storage space and support for Wi-Fi 6 (802.11ax). The tablet, which weighs 490 grams, will be available on Amazon from June 14 at prices starting at 270 euros.
At this price there is 64 GB of RAM and the usual Amazon advertisements. Without advertising, the Fire Max 11 will be around 15 euros more expensive. If the customer also orders a stylus and a tablet case with an integrated keyboard, prices start at 395 euros. Without advertising and with 128 GB of RAM, the customer ends up with the full configuration at 440 euros.
For comparison: The previously largest Amazon tablet, the Fire HD 10, which was introduced almost exactly two years ago, comes with a 10-inch display, 8-core CPU, 3 GB of RAM and 32 or 64 GB of storage space and is available from 165 euros available. However, you still have to do without the fingerprint sensor to unlock the device, which Amazon has installed in its tablets for the first time with the Fire Max 11.
Display technology unclear, storage space expandable
The resolution of the Fire HD 10 has increased only slightly from 1920×1200 pixels to 2000×1200 pixels in the Fire Max 11, but Amazon does not provide any technical information about the screen. The battery capacity is also not mentioned. With up to 14 hours of operating time, the Fire Max 11 should last around two hours longer than the Fire HD 10. The battery of the Fire Max 11 should be fully charged in less than four and a half hours via USB-C and the included 9-watt power adapter can be charged.
In the small print, Amazon says that the Fire Max 11’s processor is a MediaTek MT8188J. This has two ARM Cortex-A78 high-end cores with up to 2.2 GHz and six energy-efficient Cortex-A55 cores with a maximum of 2 GHz. At 4 GB, the main memory is a bit tight compared to modern smartphones, but the storage space can still be expanded using a microSD card.
Multimedia via USB-C
In addition to modern Wi-Fi 6, the Fire Max 11 also offers Bluetooth 5.3, but there is no longer a 3.5 mm jack for headphones or headsets, as there was on the Fire HD 10. These may have to be connected via USB-C. The Fire Max 11 is also equipped with two microphones and speakers that are said to support Dolby Atmos surround sound. The 11-inch tablet has an 8-megapixel camera on the front and back.
Amazon promises at least four years of software security updates and a limited one-year manufacturer’s warranty for the Fire Max 11. The 11-inch tablet can be pre-ordered now at prices starting at 270 euros and should be available from June 14th.
