A fire broke out in a chemical processing plant in Upper Franconia. The police warned the neighborhood in Selb in the Wunsiedel district on Thursday morning to keep doors and windows closed to be on the safe side. The fire is now under control but is still being extinguished.
A large cloud of black smoke could be seen in the images. According to the current status, there are no injuries, said a police spokesman. Ten workers from the company got themselves to safety in good time. What exactly is burning in the company is still unclear.
The Federal Office for Civil Protection and Disaster Assistance warned on its website of a massive cloud of smoke due to a chemical fire. Residents should therefore remain in their apartments.
