Fire in Geroda: Barn fire spreads to six buildings – Bavaria

After the fire in the Franconian town of Geroda in the Bad Kissingen district, most of the affected houses were completely destroyed. The fire was briefly rekindled three times on Thursday night, said district fire chief Alexander Marx on Thursday. The fire probably broke out in a barn on Wednesday and then spread to at least five other buildings.

The district fire chief describes the damage as “complete madness”. The fire spread very quickly. “It’s unusual for a fire to even jump across a street,” says Marx. The wind probably contributed to the flying sparks. The post-extinguishing work lasted until Thursday morning.

200 emergency services were on site during the major fire on Wednesday and Thursday morning. A resident was slightly injured. According to the district fire chief, 23 people were medically examined. The cause of the fire is still open. The amount of damage is estimated to be in the six-digit range.
