It’s been almost a week since the fire department responded to a serious fire in one of the city’s oldest buildings. The cause of the devastating fire remains unclear.

The Firefighters have ended their operation after the fire at the old stock exchange in the Danish capital Copenhagen. According to the Ritzau news agency, the operations manager of the Copenhagen fire department, Jakob Vedsted Andersen, announced this on Monday.

Accordingly, the police can now begin their investigation into the partially burned-out historic building. The cause of the fire remains unclear, said Vedsted Andersen. The construction company in charge continued to work on Monday to remove the scaffolding surrounding the building due to restoration work.

A fire broke out on Tuesday in the old stock exchange, which was built around 400 years ago. About half of it burned out, leaving only the outer walls. These collapsed on Thursday.

Today the Danish Chamber of Commerce has its headquarters in the building, which also houses a large art collection. According to the head of the Danish Chamber of Commerce, 99 percent of the art objects were saved from the fire.
