Rarely has a parliamentary election been so personalized. The Finnish media were mildly surprised last Sunday at the global interest in Sanna Marin, the last campaign appearance of the 37-year-old prime minister on Friday in Helsinki made it onto Japanese television. Marin is young, quick-witted and courageous, she managed to get NATO accession through, maneuvered Finland through the Corona crisis with ease and tries not to cut social spending in economically difficult times.
