Finland: How “The Finns” are becoming a problem for the new government

After three weeks in office, the new Finnish government is in crisis: a minister is resigning because of a Nazi joke, others have spread right-wing conspiracy ideologies in the past – experts doubt the survival of the right-wing conservative coalition.

It was a bad start for the new right-wing conservative government of Finland’s Prime Minister Petteri Orpo: it will take office on June 20; ten days later, the economics minister set a new record: Vilhelm Junnila resigned. This makes him the shortest-serving minister in Finland’s history.

What happened?

In the days before his resignation There was increased discussion about earlier statements by Junnila, who belongs to the right-wing populist party Perussuomalaiset – in English: The Finns.
