After Bouches-du-Rhône and Vaucluse placed on “alert” on Monday, it is the turn of the Var department to suffer an episode of fine particle pollution on Tuesday. As a result, the Var prefecture issued an order triggering the level 1 alert procedure for air pollution, issuing some recommendations to citizens and motorists in order to reduce its scope.
The authorities thus advise to avoid intense physical or sporting activities and to ensure that the premises are ventilated at least ten minutes a day. They also call for favoring carpooling, public transport or non-polluting modes of travel. Also, gendarmes and police are invited to strengthen their checks of the technical controls of vehicles.
