Financial sector – banks control Schufa – economy

The cooperative banks and savings banks are on target with Schufa: the majority of the Wiesbaden credit agency is in the hands of the two banking associations. The cooperative banks already involved in Schufa had exercised pre-emption rights and thus increased their stake in Schufa from 20.5 percent to 27.2 percent, the Federal Association of German Volksbanken and Raiffeisenbanken (BVR) announced on Thursday. According to Schufa, 26.4 percent of the shares are in banks from the savings bank sector. The Savings Banks also declared that they want to continue to top up. With this, Volksbanken and savings banks have thwarted the plan of the Swedish financial investor EQT to take over the Schufa.
