Financial industry – savings banks for rescue pool – economy

The general assembly of the German Savings Banks and Giro Association has agreed on the construction of a new rescue fund for ailing institutes. The public-law financial sector is thus accommodating the European Central Bank, from which such a money pool was requested. “It was an intensive discussion process in our group in which justified different interests were actively represented”, said DSGV President Helmut Schleweis. The next step is to present the results to the supervisory authorities. “We are optimistic that we can conclude talks with the ECB soon.”
