Finally reunited, the heads of the Nupes go to the meeting with Macron, “not fooled by the communication operation”

The leaders of the Nupes arrived welded for the meeting with Emmanuel Macron in Saint-Denis. Ready to present their proposals, including some municipalities, while ensuring not to be “dupes of the communication operation”. “We are here without illusions but with determination”, declared the coordinator of LFI, Manuel Bompard, for this unprecedented summit and behind closed doors of the Head of State with the leaders of the political parties.

“Whenever it is possible to come and propose concrete proposals, we do so,” added the boss of the PS Olivier Faure, in the company of the chief environmentalist Marine Tondelier and the national secretary of the communists Fabien Roussel. “The risk is that we are there simply to hold the candle for a dinner which is in reality (…) a “date” with Éric Ciotti”, he further underlined.

“Emergency proposals”

Marine Tondelier assured that all four were “happy to be there together, we don’t really know what this day will be for, but the fact of having been able to prepare it together, to arrive together is important for us”. She notably mentioned the question of ecology, which was not mentioned in Emmanuel Macron’s invitation.

“We found it anachronistic and just to put this subject on the table, it seemed appropriate to us to come”. LFI, the PS and EELV will present “14 joint emergency proposals”, according to a document sent to the media and not signed by the PCF.

From pension reform to ecological planning

Among these measures, “the suspension of the publication of the implementing decrees for the pension reform” and a referendum to “decide on this reform”, “an in-depth reform of the national police”, “the management of supplies schools through the State budget”, “ecological planning” or even “the transition to a Sixth Parliamentary Republic”.

“We have common proposals on a large number of issues related to salaries, to the public service”, specified Fabien Roussel, who also intends to highlight the “priorities that the French Communist Party defends”. “We share some of these common proposals but not enough to affix Fabien’s signature”, specifies his entourage.
