Villeneuve: No understanding for Verstappen

Speaking of which, Jacques Villeneuve writes about the situation in Brazil in his column for ‘Formule1.nl’: “I can’t understand Verstappen’s reaction. Why is he making such a fuss about sixth or seventh place?”

“It doesn’t change anything for him, but it makes a difference for Perez and the team,” he emphasizes, recalling that the Mexican has helped Verstappen several times in the past.

On the other hand, he understands Ferrari’s decision not to let Leclerc and Sainz swap places in the end. Because you would have had to get Sainz off the podium for that. “I understand why Ferrari didn’t allow that,” said Villeneuve.

In addition, “the risk” was too great because Alonso was directly behind the two Ferraris. There were no such circumstances at Red Bull on Sunday.

Verstappen: Was everything completely different with Perez?

And while we’re on the subject of rumours: Red Bull is also currently getting pretty hot with regard to the relationship between Max Verstappen and Sergio Perez. And now a new theory has emerged as to why the two might have fallen out.

And expert Antonio Felix Da Costa did the thesis was probably put forward in the Portuguese ‘Sport TV’that not Monaco but Mexico should be the reason for the tensions. There Perez wanted the help of Verstappen for a home win.

The Dutchman is said to have refused on the grounds that the faster driver would win. That was the starting point for the noise – and would also explain what “reasons” Verstappen meant on the radio in Brazil.

However, this too – like the Monaco theory – is currently pure speculation.

More rumors about Ferrari

The big story of yesterday was the possible expulsion of Mattia Binotto from Ferrari – which the team then denied. Nevertheless, the speculation does not stop and now also includes other people.

For example, ‘f1ingenerale.com’ picks up on rumours, that, in addition to Binotto, Inaki Rueda and Laurent Mekies should also be on the hit list. The latter is associated with a move to Alfa Romeo.

There he should then replace Frederic Vasseur, who would switch to Ferrari in return. We are very cautious about these speculations, because the Ferrari rumor mill is currently going crazy…

Nevertheless, we don’t want to withhold them from you at this point.

Verstappen/Hamilton like Verstappen/Ocon?

On social media, many are now reproducing this scene from the 2018 Brazilian GP, which is strongly reminiscent of the crash between Verstappen and Hamilton this year – only that the Dutchman was the “victim” on the outside of turn 2 at the time.

In fact, the two scenes seem similar at first glance. But the crucial difference is that Ocon was a lap behind and it wasn’t about a position. So I’m comparing apples to oranges here.
