The case is now closed. Justice pronounced a final dismissal in favor of the director of the Ballet Nice Méditerranée. In office since 2009, Eric Vu-An, former star dancer of the Paris Opera, was accused of moral harassment and discrimination by one of his soloists. “After five years of proceedings, no charge, nor even any serious or concordant indication of acts of harassment or discrimination have been brought to [son] against” reacted his lawyer Me Nikita Sichov.
Four years after a complaint filed in 2018, a dismissal had already been pronounced last July for lack of sufficient charges. The complainant then appealed before withdrawing in early March. The investigating chamber of the Aix-en-Provence Court of Appeal noted this withdrawal in a judgment of March 30, making the dismissal “final”. ” Innocence [d’Eric Vu-An] is now consecrated”, welcomed the council.
Pregnancy and non-renewal of her contract
Gaëla Pujol, dancer at the Ballet Nice Méditerranée since 2013, had sued the director for “discrimination and moral harassment”, believing that her recent maternity was directly at the origin of the non-renewal of her employment contract.
Relying in particular on the testimonies of several other dancers who suffered pressure during a pregnancy, the administrative judge had agreed with him in September 2020, pushing the town hall to announce his reinstatement.
In the months following the complaint, the city announced corrective measures and in particular administrative and medical-professional support with a sports doctor or an alert form to report possible harassment.
